About Me – Kristen!

Welcome to my site! This blog was started with that idea of sharing my tips about health and fitness to help and inspire others. I recently became a certified personal trainer, and have struggled to lose weight for a long time and finally found workouts, meal plans, and lifestyle that produced results. While the gym is a great place for some, home fitness can be just as effective!
I am a 27 year old who is from the beautiful city of Boston. I started my fitness journey in January 2015. I first started by doing home exercises and found that they worked! Prior to embarking on my weight-loss journey I was your a bit more than the averaged sized girl. I was not considered “skinny” by any means. More importantly, I was unhealthy as my daily routine consisted of eating potato chips and drinking soda for lunch which was far from healthy. I used to eat fried food and desserts, and do 100 sit ups thinking I was burning off the calories. Now my diet is strict. Losing weight is more about what you eat. Yes, exercise plays a huge part as well. But if you aren’t eating right, then you won’t see results.
When I met my husband in May 2015, he was into fitness and went to the gym on a daily basis. I figured I will join the gym to do something together rather than going out to dinner or to the movies. Now I go to the gym at 4am every day. Yes, EVERY DAY. Even when I am on vacation, I find a gym to workout. My husband is a runner, so he eventually got me into running as well. I ran my first 5K in May 2016. Since then, I have ran multiple 5K races, 10K’s, 10 milers, and my first half-marathon in October 2018. My goal (and dream!) is to one day run a marathon.
Now to step back a bit, let me tell you that I come from an Italian family who loves bread and pasta. Food is a staple of my family and it is what often brings any group of people together. I will eat a bowl of pasta like any proud Italian with a smile on my face but when it’s gone I instantly feel like I put on weight. It is incredibly hard to say no to carbs and we all know but once any food is cut from your diet after a few weeks the cravings are gone. I have learned that while we all know exercise is good for the body and the heart, being healthy is more about WHAT YOU EAT rather than HOW MUCH YOU EXERCISE!
My goal through this blog is to inspire others with my experiences and to make a difference. I want to help others who struggle to lose weight, or find it hard to lose those extra couple of pounds. There is no excuse when you can do workouts right from your home!
I will finish by saying that everything that I post may not be for everyone. Exercises may or may not work for you. You may enjoy going to the gym but find it difficult between so many errands that you need to squeeze in that home workout. Additionally, this blog will not in any way guarantee results. The results are on YOU. YOU need to work hard for those results but believe me a healthier life is worth every drop of sweat. This blog is meant to inspire and give ideas to help you get to where you desire to be.
